WHAT WE DO
Noughty Wasters offers developmentally-appropriate, hands-on STEM and sustainability education delivered at your site or here at our Devonport makerspace. Developed by teachers, for teachers, our programmes delight tamariki while complementing your curriculum themes. And when it’s time to focus on resourcing yourself as an educator and the classroom environment, we’ve got you covered with engaging PLD opportunities and an endless supply of fabulous loose parts.

FOR ECE
Our ECE programmes are grounded in the principles of developmentally-appropriate, child-led learning. Visits to your centre begin with a 15 min puppet show to introduce key concepts and build engagement, followed by a 45 min play invitation for children who have interest and capacity for more (we find they almost always choose to join in).
Centres who are able to visit our space in Devonport also start with the puppet show, and then have the option to rotate through two play invitations; Construction + Crafting in our makerspace and Large Loose Parts Play in our outdoor green space, making for a full morning of activity 9:30-noon. Best suited for tamariki aged 2.5-5.
FOR SCHOOLS
Look no further for programmes proven to engage even the most limited attention span! For an epic EOTC experience, bring up to ~75 students (3 classes) to our makerspace in Devonport. Suitable for all year groups 0-6, we begin with a brief presentation to introduce key concepts and set up boundaries and expectations. This is followed by a rotation between 3 activities; Makerspace Materials, Cardboard Creations, and Large Loose Parts, making for a full day session 9:30am-2pm. Alternately, visits to your school site will consist of 3 x 1hr sessions where students will engage in either Cardboard Creations or Makerspace Materials. Funded programmes may be available based on your location.
LOOSE PARTS COLLECTION
Whether you are setting up an indoor or outdoor space, early childhood or primary, we have got you covered with a vast array of interesting loose parts, large and small! Come along to one of our loose parts collection days or get in touch if you’re after something specific, we are passionate about diverting waste from landfill for educational purpose.
